Testing & Results
Whenever I think of luxury, instantly I expect a standard of impeccable quality. Let’s just say there was high expectations when testing and trying out Patrick Ta’s palettes because of the price point and packaging.
The weighted case makes the reflective, rose gold atmosphere look exquisite with quality. It is very well thought out with little details inside like an enlarged mirror to apply your makeup with and a cream base see-through lid to protect the product from the dry shadow pigments.
The eyeshadows are filled with eye catching reflective colours and soft mattes. The alluring cream bases on the left side seem slightly intimidating yet intriguing to use. Patrick Ta does say that you can achieve his signature makeup techniques by contouring the eyes by layering his creams and powder eye products together. Let’s see if this is true when reviewing his products!
A little history about my eyes before we begin

Smell
There is no fragrance or smell to Patrick Ta’s eyeshadows.
Texture
Both of Patrick Ta’s major dimension eyeshadow palettes have four different formulas: Cream Bases, Matte, Metallic, and Pearl Toppers.
The matte finishes are super velvety, pigmented, and easy to blend. Because the formula is so soft, there is a lot of fine dust that is revealed when you use your makeup brush into the shadow pan. For that reason, you’ll have to clean your palette a lot to keep it tidy and the mirror functional.
I am a HUGE fan of toppers; Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, Artist Couture, give me all the eyeshadow toppers! When I tried and tested Patrick Ta’s eyeshadow pearl toppers, they are made to be very fine and pigmented.
It was less luxurious that what I was used to because it looked so creamy and pigmented together, I’m used to having each reflective particle more spread out instead of looking like a solid colour. So that was a bit of a “meh” for me. It looks gorgeous on though, just not as high quality looking as I would like it to be.
Both your fingers and brushes can be used to apply the topper and metallic eyeshadows. You get a more pigmented look with your ring finger then you do an eyeshadow brush, it is nice to have the option depending on what look you want to create.
The cream bases in both palettes are pigmented. You need very little to achieve a perfect all over base, liner, or cut crease. They go on pretty dark (except Loyal from the Patrick ta rose gold palette), I found that using your ring finger is best to melt it into the eyelid skin as a cream shadow base. It did make the dry shadow formulas more vibrant!
Quality & Packaging
Quality
The overall quality of these palettes is exactly what you pay for. Are the toppers top luxury quality? No. But you do get high end formulas and fantastic, functional packaging though out the eyeshadow palette.
What I love is that you can achieve a day, evening, to night look with his textures and tones!
When artistry meets high quality… it is a wonderful combination.
Packaging
Patrick Ta rose palette and his original dimension eyeshadow palette have a very similar rectangle packaging. It has a stunning rose gold colour with a reflective shine. It’s a heavier case which feels luxurious. The look does not disappoint.
The recyclable outer packaging matches the same colour as the physical palette but is hard to read the text on the front side.
There is a subtle difference between Patrick’s two palettes, the rose eyeshadow case has a frosted rose gold frame on the front while the original dimension case is a solid reflective rose gold.
I love the perfectly square sized pans, it makes it ideal for depotting and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I’m not too sure the purpose of why the eyeshadows goes from dark to light when usually they are arranged from light to dark left to right, but it definitely make the colours stand out more from that not normal standard sequence.
Extended Line & Dupes
Extended Line
- PATRICK TA Major Dimension Precision Gel Eyeliner A gel based retractable eyeliner that comes in a deep bronze metallic shade, matte beige, matte brown, burgundy, copper gold, and satin black.
- PATRICK TA Major Volume Mascara This is a very dark, intense black mascara. It is double cut on the sides of the bristles which creates volume, definition, and lift.
- PATRICK TA Eyeshadow Brush Patrick’s only eye focused makeup brush is a synthetic blending brush. The hairs are super fine and naturally crimped to resemble real hair to make the eyeshadow application go on perfectly.
They are not the exact same but will give you a cost-effective alternative of a familiar shadow texture to the Patrick eyeshadows!
Review out of 10
Performance: 8/10
Patrick’s eyeshadows are highly pigmented and blendable, making them perfect for creating unique looks. The shadows also have excellent staying power, are super velvety, and have different formulas within the palette. The shimmery shadows are not the best performing quality that I expect in a luxury brand, but it wasn’t bad when applied with a finger.
Ingredients: 8/10
The ingredients used in Patrick Ta eyeshadow palettes are of the high quality, contain no talc, have shea butter, and come from ethical sources. Every product is designed to be gentle enough for all skin types, including sensitive eyes. There is no parabens, phthalates, formaldehydes, sulfates, or synthetic fragrances.
Packaging: 10/10
The eyeshadow products come in a stylish, modern packaging that is designed to fit any collection. The sleek rose gold and frosted labels make the products look luxe, but not too flashy or over-the-top.
Price: 8/10
Even though the palettes are a bit of an investment, the prices are very reasonable and both Sephora and the Patrick Ta website has discounts often, so you can get luxurious cosmetics at an affordable price. You definitely get what you pay for as far as quality and performance.
Brand Reputation: 9/10
The Patrick Ta beauty brand is quickly becoming one of the most popular and sought-after cosmetic lines on the market. Not only does the brand offer luxurious formulas, but they also make sure their ingredients are ethically sourced and cruelty-free. The products have been featured in numerous magazines, beauty blogs, and social media with glowing reviews from beauty enthusiasts all over the world.
FAQs
Is the major dimension eyeshadow palette pigmented?
The Patrick Ta’s eyeshadows are very well made and pigmented. Whether it is his cream bases, matte, pearl, or metallic shadows, they all go on well and are easy to use. Just make sure to use your fingers for the pearl toppers if you are looking to build a full coverage look.
Does the Patrick Ta major dimension palette crease or have any fallout?
When worn alone without an eyeshadow primer, the eyeshadows and bases did crease. My eyelids are oily, which is an important factor. When in doubt always wear an eye primer to avoid any eye product creasing.
How do you apply Patrick Ta eyeshadow?
The best way to apply Patrick Ta’s major dimension eyeshadows is to use both your ring finger and eye makeup brushes.
How do you clean Patrick Ta major dimension eyeshadow palette?
The best way to clean the Patrick Ta eyeshadow palette on the outside is with a microfibre cloth and a bit of water! This is the best way to get rid off all the fingerprints as chemicals like Windex can break down the mirror plastic coating.
What are the notes in Soleil Neige?
The notes in Soleil Neige are: Bergamot Integrale Orpur, Carrot Seed Enriched Orpur, Jasmine Grandiflorum Concrete, Karmaflor Captive, Benzoin Resinoid Laos Orpur, Cistus Labdanum Spain.
Who Would I Recommend PATRICK TA Major Dimension?
The Patrick Ta for eyes major dimension eyeshadow palette is the most universal out of the two palettes that Mr. Ta has launched! It truly does have a healthy mix of cool, warm, and neutral brown eyeshadow shades (which might not be the best if you feel like you only look good in one of those undertones).
I would recommend this palette for anyone who is looking for a glamorous, nude eyeshadow palette and has a bit of eye makeup experience. The cream base colours can be intimidating if you are not confident in your makeup skills.
The Patrick Ta major dimension ii is a more playful “version” of the original palette while still sticking with the neutral brown overall tones. If you are looking for more red brown tones to bring out certain shades in your eyes or if you like purple eyeshadow hues, then I think you would love to own this palette!
My final thoughts: both eyeshadow palettes are great options if you are in the market for an all in one- high quality cream, shimmer, and matte nude brown shades.
